Missions at home and around the world. At Riverside we believe strongly in missions, both at home and abroad.

Why Love?

It’s Biblical! We are called to love God, and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. When asked who we should consider our neighbor, Jesus made it clear that our neighbor is everyone we meet; especially the hurting, the downtrodden and the poor.

Why Give?

It’s Biblical! The Old Testament encourages us to give both tithes and offerings. The tithe is a portion of your income that supports your local fellowship. Offerings are extra gifts, over and above your regular tithe for specific things, such as missions or other worthy causes.

Why Go?

It’s Biblical! Not everyone can go, but if we have the opportunity to experience missions we should take it. Short term mission trips are life changing experiences.

How Can I Get Involved?

You can choose to love the unlovable. You can choose to volunteer in some capacity. You can go on a mission trip. You can give to support a missionary or missions organization. We support these organizations through our general budget, but you can also designate a portion of your giving to any of these organizations and we will flow it through. Your gifts are tax deductible.

Local Missions

There are many great organizations in our local area that meet a variety of needs. This list comprises those organizations that we support and promote, but there are certainly other organizations that are worthy of support. This list is intended to guide you as you prayerfully consider how you can get involved through the giving of your time and resources for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

The EMC Helping Hands Fund provides individuals and families in need with emergency food, and helps with financial assistance for rent and utility bills. Those in need must fill out an application, which is then considered for approval by the Helping Hands Committee. Funds are dispersed based on the need and the availability of funds.
