New Podcast Series: The Gospel of Mark

We’re excited to begin our new podcast series this Tuesday, 2/4!

We’ve been MIA for several weeks and we’re ready to jump back into the weekly schedule of posting a new podcast every Tuesday morning. We took the time away to update our set and add new lighting. We also took that time to reflect on what we’ve done so far and where we want to go next. We love talking about Bigfoot (and it is still one of our most viewed episodes) but we want to go back to what we know and what we’re good at.

We really thought about what our next series of podcasts would be focused on and we came to the conclusion that we love looking at scripture and breaking down each chapter in order to understand the intention behind the author’s words. Brian is a history nerd who loves to break down the historical context, he loves early church history and he has a heart for teaching the Bible. I (Seth) love to learn and ask tough questions that we may or may not have the answer to. My curiosity and eagerness to learn more about scripture creates the perfect paradigm for a real-time discipleship podcast. So that’s what we’re doing!

We’re always conscious of our mission statement for this podcast, we want to equip you to live out and share the gospel in everyday life. That means we often talk about how scripture and a life lived in obedience to God should inform our daily habits and routines.

We chose to start with the Gospel of Mark because we believe it is a great introduction into who Jesus is and what his purpose is here on Earth. Join us for this 8+ week, discipleship focused, series as we dive into the book of Mark!

Each week we will read through one to three chapters or we may skip around a bit as we discuss core themes throughout the book. Either way, we want you to follow along with us as we read and discuss the thrust of each passage. Week one is an introduction to who Mark is and why he wrote his gospel. We discuss his relationship to Peter and many more interesting insights.

We are filming a few weeks ahead of time so if you have questions or comments that you’d like for us to address, please comment on Youtube or send an email to me at seth@riversideemc.org. We will do our best to address each question as we release new episodes weekly. Be sure to check the show notes for the weekly readings as we continue in this series.

Thanks for listening!
